Grant Distribution

During the two-year period between July 2023 and June 2025, the Foundation approved 216 grants and sponsorships for a total of $12,275,771 invested throughout our 11-county region. These investments ranged from $500 sponsorships to six-figure, multi-year grants—all in support of our mission to improve the health of people in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Focus Areas

The Foundation has four distinct focus areas, of which the Health Care Access and Quality Focus Area represents the largest investment category (by both dollar and number). This area includes primary care, mental and behavioral health, oral health, and health care workforce.

Type of Support

The Foundation structures the types of support provided into several categories. The vast majority of investments are categorized as specific program or project support. Other types of support include Capital (construction, equipment, and technology), Capacity Building (finance, human resources, strategy), General Operating, and Event (limited funding available to organizations closely aligned with the Foundation’s focus areas).

Primary County

The Foundation’s grantmaking is primarily focused in Lackawanna County and the immediately surrounding counties, though organizations throughout the 11-county region are eligible to apply. It is important to note that all 11 counties were impacted by the investments made during the two-year period of this report.
